Traditional Religious Worshippers in Osun State have warned the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) against attack on the merger and reclassification policy of the government of Osun State.
The worshippers at a press conference addressed yesterday by their President, Chief Idowu Awopetu in Osogbo noted that CAN should be cautioned to desist from action that could derail the laudable programme of government aimed at transforming education to a greater height in the State.
Awopetu said it was wrong for CAN to claim ownership of any public school in the State since it is a matter of public knowledge that since the takeover…

You look young, but you have a grandchild. How old are you? I was born in 1973.
What do you do for a living? I am a trader.
What was the total worth of your business? I can’t say, because I buy goods from different markets and sell them to make money.
How did you feel the day the governor seized your wares?Did you curse him as you…
A mother has said she is pulling her teenage son out of the Al-Madinah Muslim free school on the day the Government said it must take ‘swift action’ to address concerns over the way it is run or face the prospect of closure.
Jacqueline Crossley, 53, has said her son, who she does not want to be identified, was forced to cover his head and banned from looking at female students at the school in Derby.
She has now decided to withdraw the 14-year-old from the school after claiming he was forced to join lessons with five-year-olds when he opted out of…
Nelson Mandela, former president of South Africa and Nobel Peace Prize winner, has died. During his long life, Mandela inspired countless individuals. Here is a collection of quotes that personify his spirit:
1) “Difficulties break some men but make others. No axe is sharp enough to cut the soul of a sinner who keeps on trying, one armed with the hope that he will rise even in the end.”
2) “It always seems impossible until it’s done.”
3) “If I had my time over I would do the same again. So would any man who dares call himself a man.”
In 1961 ITN reporter Brian Widlake met Nelson Mandela, while he was in hiding, to conduct the former president’s first ever TV interview. The 42-year-old was on the run from the police at the time, and Widlake had to pull some strings to arrange to meet him in his hideout, with the interview part of a longer ITN Roving Report programme about apartheid. The following year Mandela was arrested on allegations of sabotage and other charges and sentenced to life in prison, where he spent 27 years before finally being freed. [sam id=”10″…
I have read with anguish your recent outburst against Catholics. I understand where you are coming from. Life is complex and when we meet with what we don’t understand, it is a lot easier to demonize it, castigate it and even reject it. I am sorry to tell you that none of these will make the Church go away.
Darkness can only be dispelled by light, hatred by love, falsehood by truth. Since it is obvious that your are still in the dark about Catholic doctrines and way of life, I am inviting you to our religious…

“He is now resting,” said South African President Jacob Zuma. “He is now at peace.”"Our nation has lost its greatest son,” he continued. “Our people have lost a father.”
A state funeral will be held, and Zuma called for mourners to conduct themselves with “the dignity and respect” that Mandela personified.”Wherever we are in the country, wherever we are in the world … let us reaffirm his…

On Tuesday night, President Jonathan had abruptly flown out of Abuja ostensibly to attend a Summit on peace and security in Africa organized by French government. Several ministers and service chiefs accompanied him to the airport for the late night flight, but only a handful of officials travelled on the actual flight.

The river in Myjava, a small municipality on the border to the Czech Republic, had changed colour over night and turned into ‘blood’.
Police have been called in to investigate the matter, but it is believed to be a faulty filtering system from a slaughterhouse upstream.
‘I just could not believe my eyes,’ he said. ‘The river was dark red. It was like something from a horror film. Blood cascading through the centre of town’ an eye witness said. ‘Slaughter of 1,00 virgins’: Locals feared the colour change was an…
