Delectable Nollywood actress Bisi Komolafe who died on New Year’s Eve was buried in Ibadan on Friday. Bisi’s final journey started around 9 am as family and friends went to pick her body from the morgue at the University College Hospital. Many of her colleagues came in from Lagos and Street Journal gathered that they had all convened at Agidingbi before moving to Ibadan in convoy.
A mass was held for her at the St Mary’s Catholic Church Oke Padre. While the church was filled to capacity, a bigger crowd waited outside the church and all roads leading to Oke Padre were blocked by the crowd that waited to pay their last respect to the departed actress.
The officiating priest disclosed that though a bereavement has occurred, it was worthy of note that Bisi Komolafe started her journey of life as a little girl in St Mary’s Church, and when the Lord chose to call her home, she was brought again to the church. He said that gives hope that she is with the Lord. He urged the deceased’s family and friends to be strong and remain committed to God.
After the service, the funeral procession which had thousands of people walked through Oke Padre, Opo Yeosa all the way to Oke Sapati where she was laid to rest. All through the programme, Tunde Ijaodola, to whom the deceased was engaged, remained inconsolable. He wept like a baby and had to be held by a close relation.
A lot of her colleagues in the movie industry were on hand to pay their last respects. Jibola Dabo, Ayo Olabiyi, the Governor of the ANTP in Oyo Sate, Ajala Jalingo, Jibola Dabo, Odunlade Adekola, Yinka Quadri, Taiwo Hassan Ogogo and Tayo Adeleye were all there. Others include popular film director, Abiodun Olanrewaju also known as “Abbey Lanre”, Yinka Osuwon, Nike Peller, Afeez Owo, Yomi Fash Lanso, Razak Olayiwola “Ojopagogo”, Dejo, Yomi King fondly called “Opebe”, Mr Latin, Sanyeri Afonja as well as Muyiwa Ademola and Femi Adebayo among many others.
Her colleagues in the Business Administration Department of the Lagos State University where she was until her death a 300 Level student were also at the funeral.
There were insinuations that the deceased was pregnant and that the pregnancy had to be terminated when the illness that eventually killed her started.
Some others had also rumoured that she got ill as a result of pregnancy complications. Some of her friends however attributed her death to a spiritual attack.
Ayodeji Adekoya, who is said to be one of the deceased’s closest friends who spoke to Street Journal, described her as a “kind and wonderful person. We sometimes read together in my house when we had exams.
She was doing Business Admin and I am in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management. We ate together, at times we even had our bath together.” When asked if she knew if Bisi was pregnant, she answered in the affirmative she however said “it wasn’t the pregnancy that killed her”.
Probing further, we asked “what killed her?” and to that she answered “I don’t know.” Again she was asked, “in your opinion, what do you think killed her?” She responded, “in my opinion, I don’t know because I wasn’t there”.
